White Christmas.

Our shopping is done and the gifts are wrapped and under our tree.
Our house is decorated from top to bottom, inside and out.

Do you see the trio of angels in the lower left corner?

They're singing the Hallelujah Chorus in celebration of
The Hanging of the Curtains in the master bedroom.

 Hallelujah!

Down the hall in a guest bedroom....

Santa is sure to find us.

A pair of my sock monkeys are ready to have some fun with a pom pom garland,
which will no doubt be pulled down at bedtime...along with the monkeys.

In the 911 Bakery....
A watchful gnome surveys the scene in the messy kitchen below.

The rest of our kitchen is covered with a dusting of flour
and sprinkles as I try to finish my Christmas baking this weekend.

We procrastinated until the last possible minute,
but we did it.  We built our first (and probably last) house!

I'm feeling a little like Clark Griswold when his Christmas light display
finally came to life.  After 2 failed attempts to build a mansard roof
without a pattern to scale, we decided to wander down a different path altogether,
and built a gable style roof instead.  It still needs the back side of the roof
attached, but it's going to have a roof that fits.  Woo hoo!

As you may have guessed, it won't be finished on time, but it's well on its way,
and the fun details like shutters, window trim, deck railings, doors, and paint
will be added before it's delivered to Maggie's bedroom.

Living in northern Minnesota, a white Christmas is usually a given,
but this year, just when I thought I was going to experience my first green Christmas
in over 5 decades, Mother Nature dropped a great big white surprise!

View from a bedroom window.

A park down the street after the snow settled.
I can't imagine a Christmas without snow!

The kids better bring their snowsuits and boots because...........

We've got sleds for everybody!

Is there a prettier sight than a snow covered pine tree?

Delicate dancing fern patterns in the frost on our old windows.

This time of year, I spend many sleepless nights counting the things I've yet to do,
but in the end it's all about our family gathering together.  What doesn't get done
won't be missed, so I hope to fall asleep the next few nights
counting my blessings.

Our Christmas selfie.

Thank you for your visits and kind words throughout the year,
and I wish everybody a Merry Christmas!

  1. What a handsome couple you two make, Vickie! And you ALMOST make me wish for a white Christmas with those gorgeous street and park photos. I am feeling like I'm forgetting things because I'm not stressing or moving in a frenzy. Whatever it is, I like your motto doesn't get done won't be missed. Merry Christmas!

  2. Oh Vickie you and your hubby's picture is beautiful. That would be a great Christmas card.
Have a very Merry Christmas. Enjoy.

  3. You have the best collection of vintage things. The new curtains are lovely and my that baseboard trim is one of the best parts of an older home. I do miss the frost patterns on the windows of our old century farmhouse that I grew up in. That is a lovely picture of you both! We have only had a few light dustings of snow that haven't stayed so it will be a weird but green Christmas for us. Wishing you and your loved ones a blessed and Merry Christmas and all the best in the New Year.

  4. As always, your home is beautiful perfection! I love your decorating style. Where did you get those gorgeous pillowcases (good morning, good night)? I know what you mean about the Hallelujah Chorus being sung when curtains get hung...our bedroom window is still curtain-less, too! We think we finally found the curtains we want at Target, though the size we need will have to be ordered online. I love the photo of you and your husband - such a lovely couple! (I love your hair, too.) Merry, snowy Christmas to you and your family from green, "warm" northern IL.

  5. Vickie, you are SO pretty! What a lovely picture that is of the two of you. You definitely should consider framing it.

I think I have the same drapes in our master. I got them at ikea.

We haven't seen snow yet here in Massachusetts, and it's supposed to be close to 60 on Christmas Day. We will be in Savannah for Christmas, so it's a pretty safe bet it will be a snowless Christmas for us, but I can live vicariously through your lovely photos.

    Merry Christmas!

  6. What a wonderful photo of the two of you! I just love your home, Vickie...it always makes me smile at the wonderful whimsy! It is all so beautiful! And snow! We still have green grass, and it's 50-50 that we'll get a little for Christmas...I sure hope so!
The dollhouse turned out so well...how fun to do the decorating now!
Hope you have a wonderful Christmas with the family!

  13. Wow! So much snow, I can't believe it! It's still warm here, but to be fair, we rarely have a white Christmas! Merry Christmas to you and yours!

PS: I feel like being a child again to play with that house!

  14. Sleds for everyone- how fun!! The snow is breathtaking. We'll be hitting almost 70 degrees here, about 20 degrees above normal. Your curtains are gorgeous and I love your entire bedroom, simple and charming. Merry Christmas!

  15. What a beautiful post! Everything is so pretty in your home and don't even get me started about the majestic white snow everywhere around you! It's like a Norman Rockwell postcard. Unfortunately, (sort of) it will be too warm here to even wear a coat on Christmas. But, we don't usually get white Christmases anyway. So, it's nothing new. I love the pic of you and your hubby at the end. Y'all make a lovely couple! Hope you enjoy your Christmas this year and if you feel like you're getting too much snow, could you please send the excess my way?

  16. Your house looks festive, love the vignettes. The snow is gorgeous! We never have a white Christmas here in Texas(only once that I remember) Most of all I love the sentiment in this post and that great picture of you and your Hubby. Have a wonderful Christmas and do a little sledding for me!

  17. What a beautiful picture of the two of you. Your home looks perfect. I always say the same, what doesn't get done it doesn't matter. We moved a month ago. Our decorations are the ones that never made it to the Christmas boxes last year. I have no idea where those boxes are. It's okay. We want snow but it isn't going to happen. Merry Christmas.

  19. We aren't going to have a white Christmas this year and it make me sad.A very nice picture of the two of you. Love your home decorated for Christmas and wishing you and your family a very blessed Christmas.

  20. That is your view from your window? I have one question. Can I live with you? Seriously, I can't imagine how beautiful it would be to live in a world of fresh snow. Now if only it wasn't so cold...(because I'm such a cold weather wimp) I only truly enjoy biting cold during my hot flashes which I've sadly not been able to time very well.
I just stopped by to wish you a merry Christmas and tell you you're awesome. Then I saw this cool post with the picture of you and hubby and I was happily surprised. I love looking at pictures and you guys are quite the handsome couple. (You look like a teenager)
Wishing you and your family a joyful Christmas, we're gonna have a rockin' great 2016 !
    hugs

  22. Your home and your selfie are both GORGEOUS!!! I am a little envious of your Christmas snow - we have none here and Christmas Eve will be 68 degrees - WHAT??? I am guessing cocktails on the deck this year by the firepit. Oh well....it is what it is! Merry Christmas, Vickie!

Christmas at your home is just magical and top it off with snow, sleds and family time, it is perfection. Beautiful "selfie" of you and Mr. Ranger 911!

  28. Man. I just love every thing you do! And that first picture, I did something similar in my guest room and thought I was so inspired and original, but to be honest you did it way better and inspired me to do better next year! Lucky you getting your white Christmas. It was a bit hard to get in the spirit of things with our higher than normal temperatures.

  33. Oh Vicki, where to begin? Well, first I have to say that you and your husband are a gorgeous couple. Great photo! Then I have to say, once more, that I love your decorating style. It's so charming. Every bit of it. You just have such a great eye for pulling a room together to make it uniquely yours in a warm and welcoming way. I'd love to stay in that lovely guest room. I adore all your Christmas decorations and I'm so glad you had a white Christmas. I feel like you do. That Christmas needs snow. :) Happy New Year, Vicki! Hugs, Nancy

  34. Like Pam, above, I've been MIA for a while. Gorgeous photos -- love the ice ferns! We didn't get a white Christmas, but we had a white new year in the form of frozen sleet. Best wishes for 2016. I hope you'll keep us up to date on all the fun things you create this year.
