I didn't mean to.
I didn't even know they were having one.
But, just like Britney Spears,
I did it again.
I went to another garage sale!
On Tuesday morning I drove to work only to find the placed closed
due to a power outage from Monday night's storm.
Bereft, I drove right back home. :@
With the exception of one little detour.
About a mile from home I noticed a "Huge Sale" sign at a four way stop.
Well, I had the day off, so what the heck, I might as well check it out.
It was a huge mess, is what it was. Junk strewn everywhere.
Nothing priced. Sweaty people digging in boxes.
Did I mention it was hot?
I quickly scanned the merchandise and picked out a couple of
items and offered $1.00 each, which they gladly accepted.
I thought this tin would be a cute way to store color crayons.
Then I looked it up online. Huh?
Do people actually spend $50-70 for these 1950's tins?!
Even Dorothy is shocked!
I like the color of this unmarked planter.
As I was handing over my money, I spotted a pile of scrap wood in the roped-off back yard.
And something interesting laying behind the junk pile. The couple was in the process of
gutting the house and this stuff was ready to be hauled to the dump.
I said I was interested in the big piece, but there was no way it would fit in my car.
The owner's husband overheard our conversation and offered me a deal.
"Ten bucks and I'll deliver it to your house."
Signed ,sealed, and delivered.
Six foot eight.
Three feet high and fifteen inches deep.
Made from wood floors?
Twenty-eight storage cubbies just waiting to be filled!!!
I knew our youngest daughter was looking for a large cubby for Finley's toys
and for $10 I took a chance that this piece would work for her.
Pottery Barn Kids
Pottery Barn
All it needs is a little lot of elbow grease and a new piece of
beadboard for the back. So what do you think,
did I get a good deal?
The accidental garage sale shopper,
Vickie
