I'm ready to say goodbye to watering flowers and hello to...
........the low maintenance variety.
I bought this book a few weeks ago and found a similar arrangement pictured inside.
When I look at the magazines I've saved from years past,
a large number of them are autumn issues,
and this book will no doubt join them in the cupboard when winter rolls around.
The hanging basket was a birthday gift from a friend just waiting to be filled.
So, I went out to my cutting garden (JoAnn Fabrics) and found some
fresh berries and flowers to tuck inside. :@
I tied it on a piece of rope to center the basket on the door
and voila! Three hours later (yes, that's how long it took me to get it right)
I've got a new autumn welcome basket on my door.
Have a great Labor Day weekend!

Vickie,
ReplyDeleteI am sick of watering too.But if I don't continue to water I won't have flowers next season.I have a tree that is not looking good either :-(
Your basket looks great on your door.Perfect flowers with no watering required :-) .Those baskets are fun to change out too for different seasons!Have a great weekend!
xx

Three hours well spent I say! Love the basket and your door is the perfect backdrop. We planted Chinese Lanterns this year but I'm afraid the black-eyed susan jungle smothered them. Perhaps if I peek in there we may have some yummy orange lanterns. That I have to water.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous transition from summer to early fall! :)
What a gorgeous basket of fall colors, Vickie. This picture looks like it is out of Country Living Magazine ... so pretty.
ReplyDeleteLove that and the colors. I am getting ready to work on my front door arrangement, too.
ReplyDeleteYour autumn arrangement is so pretty Vickie! It's magazine worthy!!!
ReplyDeleteHa! That's funny, Vickie- I need to get out to my cutting garden, too!
ReplyDeleteIt's still 100 degrees here so I feel odd having the need to get out the fall things, but I will anyway. ;)
Great basket. I have never grown Chinese lanterns but my neighbor did. They are great in an autumn bouquet or basket.
ReplyDeleteI adore this arrangement, but I think I love your old door even more! What a beautiful combination!
ReplyDeleteThat's really pretty - I'm still working on the inside of the house, the garden will be next year !
ReplyDeleteOf course there will be something on the front door in a few months !!
That is lovely! I love that basket and it looks very nice on your door. I almost just completely stop watering in the summer because it's just too hot to go outside. Plus, it's too hot for most flowers to survive anyway. I'll replant in October and things will be lovely again from then until June. It's worth it but some low maintenance would be nice, too. Fran
ReplyDeleteLove the welcoming basket of FALL!!! I'll be getting mine up this weekend! "spruce" the place up before the MN Bloggers Gathering! Went to a nice PACKED sale today...hmmm..may have spent a little too much...yup...I better save up too for the JB!
ReplyDeleteWarmly,
deb
Beautiful! My kind of flower arrangement :)
ReplyDeleteLooks great, Vickie! Although I love fall decor, I'm not ready to let go of summer yet.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful! I have the same Autumn issue, and fell in love with the basket on the door. It's a great look. I like your choice!
ReplyDeleteOh Vickie, I am so ready for autumn too. Love your basket arrangement, it turned out beautiful. A Happy Labor Day to you too.
ReplyDeleteHugs and Kisses,
❤Ana
Vickie, I'm right there with you on the artificial arrangements for fall. Love the colors in the white basket. Thanks, Helen
ReplyDeleteI am sick of watering too! I have lost a lot of plants because of the extreme heat we had this summer.
ReplyDeleteI love the basket with the beautiful fall colors nicely displayed on your door! Enjoy your weekend, Gail
i stopped watering--i'm just done with it:) you didn't waste your 3 hrs--gorgeous basket, vickie!
ReplyDeleteI am with you on that watering stuff, I have had enough! This fall arrangement is done in all my favorite colors. So happy breezy cool fall is around the corner.

I like how you call Joanne's your "cutting garden". ha! Mine is from my basement or Hobby Lobby usually. I think your basket looks beautiful. I have that same magazine and it is full of wonderful Fall inspiration.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful basket arrangement! I love it. Unbeknownst to me I had some of that kind of vine growing in my front flower bed. It was all over grown with weeds and I went to town yankin' 'em out and too late I realized I had pulled up something good. : ( Oh well.
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by The Cozy Old Farmhouse and commenting on my fun Friday finds.
That is SO pretty, Vickie! My living room has a big basket of Chinese Lanterns courtesy of JoAnn's, too! They are such nice quality! Although at the lake, we have a large patch of them that are orange and I'll pick them soon!
ReplyDeleteIck. Fall. ;) I hate fall.
ReplyDeleteit looks great and i am with you on being done with WATERING!!!
ReplyDeletehappy labor day, vickie.
